A community to call home, where honest relationships are found and formed.
You are invited to bring your whole self to Confluence, because you are loved for exactly who you are. Join us in creating a place where all people belong regardless of age, race, passions, cultural background, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, relationship status, physical or mental health, or anything else that too often divides us. We are united in God’s love.
Jesus’ story as a narrative of liberation and justice for all people and the earth.
We start by acknowledging that Christianity has been co-opted and used as a tool of oppression, control, colonialism, triumphalism, and empire since Constantine declared it the religion of the Roman Empire. Christianity has been used to justify patriarchy, sexism, condemnation of LGBTQ+ people, genocide of indigenous, Jewish, and Muslim people around the world, crusades, Salem witch trials, slavery, colonialism and many anti-science and anti-environment perspectives. The list is long and painful.
We also believe that the original story in its own context of Jewish peasantry under Roman occupation was a story of deep compassion, healing, relationship building across broken lines, and vision for an equitable world where all people have dignity, value, and opportunity for life. Part of our work is to reframe the story so it isn't used to justify empire, fundamentalism, colonialism, patriarchy, racism, and privilege.
Building collective power and voice for the common good.
Confluence is a member of the Missoula Interfaith Collaborative, a broad-based alliance of over 30 community organizations. The mission of M.I.C is to draw people together across social divides to act on behalf of the common good of all people. Confluence upholds M.I.C’s mission. Join us as our practices of social service are shaped, through our input and participation, by the movements of the collaborative whose citizen-based, collective actions successfully challenge unjust systems of inequity in our community.
